Beginner here; please remove if not allowed. Is the chart ruler in natal astrology an indicator of a person's focus in life? I am struggling with understanding it.

Is it a person's focus in life? Or more an indicator of where they are heading in life?

As I understand it is the sun that is the ego and you, but the ruler aka the first lord is you too, and the house indicates where you are heading or where your focus will be. Am I missing something or am I correct and just overthinking?

I know the Ascendant is how you appear to the world and the sun is more what people "see" when they get to "know" you.

Diana Garland and Bracha Goldsmith have both youtube channels with multiple 10k followers and used to upload astrology content on a regular basis for years. However they both stopped at some point & we never posted on their platforms anymore!
