Mercury Leaves Its Shadow Zone at 16 Leo To Coordinate the Future

by Robert Wilkinson Around 8 am PDT August 25, Mercury leaves its “Shadow Zone” and moves into the future. What does this mean? For those who don’t know the term, a planet’s “Shadow Zone” is the span of degrees between the point it goes stationary retrograde back to where it goes stationary direct. When a planet which was retrograde goes direct, it moves across the same span of degrees it did when retrograde. That is the Shadow Zone. Mercury went SRX at 16 Leo on July 17/18. It retrograded back to 5 Leo, where it went direct August 11. It’s now in forward motion and is leaving the boundary of its shadow zone at 16 Leo. As Mercury, “the Guide of Souls” and coordinator of our Life is now speeding up, we can expect all things related to Mercury to speed up as well for the next few weeks. Now Mercury moves forward through the last half of Leo, and then Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, and early Sagittarius, where it goes retrograde again on November 9 at 7 Sagittarius. During the coming period “the Guide of Souls” will take us through a Mercurial examination of the signs of heart expression, practical adjustments and effective service, relationships, magnetism, loss/gain, and visions of greater truths and larger futures. When it next goes SRX, we’ll be in a place where we’ll take a look back at the entire year, as the 7 Sag SRX degree is the same one where it went SD last December, promising 2025 has been about a renewal and intensification of love. As Mercury leaves its Shadow Zone, it now can bring us a new approach to who we have become in 2025 and what we have to face in the future. We’ve now taken a look back at how we have been released in some way, or need to find release of our creative imagination. We now understand time as a function of the creative process, and gotten a new look at the part of our chart where we have 5-16 Leo. We now we have a new view and enter a time when our mind can “catch up” with our life. From here, Mercury will speed up until it catches up to the Sun at the next Superior Conjunction at 21 Virgo on September 13. That will offer a “fusion of Life and Mind” related to “physical wholesomeness as prelude to inner integration” and a form of emotional and/or social education. That will mark a shift from Mercury “leading the light” to Venus leading the light. So enjoy the quickened pace, which should help many areas of our lives move forward in fine style. As usual, I’ll be writing more about Mercury’s Superior Conjunction with the Sun in mid-September, as well as the very important aspects going on at that time. We now have reviewed and reflected on many things about our Leo involvements, and now get to experience a Mercurial take on the spans in Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio and early Sagittarius. The Dec 2023 Capricorn retrograde began with a look back at 2023, and ended on a degree of “immigrants seeking entrance into a new country,” the theme for 2024. We got our review of 2024 in the November-December 2024 Mercury retrograde which ended with Mercury at 7 Sagittarius, opening up a new love of life’s adventure in some way in 2025. We now understand something of the truth of what this year’s inspired promise is about, and can move forward toward the next retrograde which will bring a review of what 2025 has been about for us. The Guide of Souls takes us forward from here, into new energy releases, new discernment, new education, new archetypes, new repair work to do, new connections to be made, and new faith to be developed before entering a new philosophical-spiritual era.
