Ten Awesome Christmas Songs Done By the Greatest!
by Robert Wilkinson Besides all the other great music of the season, our final night of Christmas music features 10 original Christmas rockers delivered by the Band, Cheap Trick, Keith Richards, Tom Petty, Canned Heat, the Who, and more! The Band gave us this in 1975, but it never made it to an album! For your enjoyment, “Christmas Must Be Tonight” Here’s Cheap Trick giving us their Christmas lyrics set to their smash hit “I Want You to Want Me!” “I Want You For Christmas” From Tommy, a powerful commentary on society! “Christmas” Here’s blues master Albert King giving us the very funky “Santa Clause Wants Some Lovin’” Speaking of funky, in this clip Bryan Adams gives us “Reggae Christmas” Canned Heat even weighed in with “Christmas Boogie” Here’s the Status Quo giving us their rocking version of “It’s Christmas Time” From 2000, Tom Petty rockin’ out to “It’s Christmas Time Again” From 1971, with Pigpen on lead vocals, the Grateful Dead give us their rocking version of “Run Run Rudolph” For our closer, the original! Here’s Chuck and Keith Richards rocking hard on “Run Run Rudolph” For our bonus track this year, courtesy of Alexei, we have the great rock and roll Christmas tune by the Darkness called "Christmas Time (Don't Let the Bells End) Happy and merry everything to everyone! I've given you all of these in recent posts, but for what it's worth, here are my Top 15 at this time. We begin with one of the greatest Christmas songs of all time, delivered as only the King could!
