Happy 2021 Christmas Birthday to Annie Lennox

by Robert Wilkinson

As in previous Christmas days, tonight we offer up a giant Happy Christmas video birthday celebration to the incomparable Scottish Diva Annie Lennox.

Ann "Annie" Lennox, OBE (25 December 1954, 11:10 pm, Aberdeen, UK) is a Scottish singer-songwriter, political activist and philanthropist. Enjoy the tunes I found today! Most of these will take you to other great tunes done by this singular musical talent, so enjoy! On with the shew!!

Here's Annie and Dave doing what made them famous! We'll start this live performance video feast with the Eurythmics doing one of the greatest songs ever written, their first hit, the amazing "Sweet Dreams (are made of this)"

Here's the original 1983 music video for "Sweet Dreams"

Here's an amazing live 1988 performance of "Sweet Dreams"

More Eurythmics!

From 1987, very live and beautiful! "The Miracle of Love"

From their live 1989 concert in Rome, here's "Love is a stranger" and "When tomorrow comes"

"Here comes the rain again"

"When the day goes down"

Live' on Parkinson, "There Must Be An Angel"

One of my all time favorites! Here's Annie at the Prince's Trust 2006 Live at the Tower of London doing the haunting "Walking On Broken Glass."

From the 2005 Live 8 concert, introduced by George Clooney, here’s ”Sisters Are Doin’ It For Themselves” followed by ”Why.” Also from that show, ”Little Bird,” and we’ll close with ”Sweet Dreams.”

Here's ”Under Pressure” with David Bowie at the Freddie Mercury tribute.

Here's a treat! Sting and Annie Lennox doing ”We'll be Together”

Her album, Nostalgia is a masterpiece! This is the second clip from a live show of that album. This will take you to the second cut of the show, which you can re-set or just let play. From “An Evening of Nostalgia Live,” a great live performance by Annie of the classic “Georgia On My Mind.”

Here are a couple from that album that I really dig! “I Put A Spell On You” and “Summertime”

From her official website, Annie Lennox.com an interesting trip around Annie’s world. A few years back her "House of Personality" had internal links in each separate room. When going to the library, we had to turn the pages at the appropriate corner, and close the lid to the phonograph. Now it’s not as intriguing, but easier to navigate! So if you’re inclined, enjoy tripping through the interesting imagery of the life of this amazing talent.

Indeed, "sweet dreams are made of this..." Happy and Merry everything to you, Annie. The world's musical culture has been greatly improved by you being here. For those who want to know more about this remarkable woman, you may want to catch Larry King’s interview with her on Larry King Live. (Last year I had the very well done interview with Dan Rather on The Big Interview but it’s disappeared. If you can find it, it’s definitely worth a look!

May all have a great day, however you can wherever you are. War is over if we want it. Happy Christmas to you all.
