Question about natal charts

Okay, so I'm interested in whether a natal chart is a subjective reflection of the life experience of the person whose chart is being read, or whether it is actually an objective tool that describes life as it truly is, thereby revealing aspects of our lives that we may not have even been aware of. I'm interested in hearing your opinions. I'm still a beginner, and this is a question that really made me stop and think.
