The January 2025 Full Moon of 24 Capricorn-Cancer Pt. 3 – Aspects, Evolutionary Configurations, and More

The next two weeks is a combination of harmony and friction; harmony within the spiritual field, friction in the social field. Find a way to celebrate the potential for a transcendent security which is on the way.
This Full Moon fulfills the Capricorn New Moon themes, which means we’ve been experiencing an activation of our power to generate harmlessness and good will. We’ve all been getting an education in seeing truth and expressing creativity as we value the power of our mature independence.
As this Lunation has an opposition cut by other planets into two configurations, one extremely stabilizing and one destabilizing, be proactive but not aggressive in how you manage the oppositional energies. They key to the chart is in bringing forth the best Venus in Pisces energies we can, which require hanging in there, putting our best Self forward, and not settling for lesser things when greater things are at stake.
Shake off depressing attitude and being discouraged at the blockages. Throw off the limitations on your imagination and get a broader view of the possibilities after this time of Mars retrograde and Jupiter square Saturn.
Evolutionary Configurations
This month we have 3 evolutionary configurations, two involving the Lunation and two involving Uranus. In no particular order, this month the configurations are:
1) The Sun and Moon join with Venus, Mars, and Jupiter to create 4 points of an “8 Pointed Star of the Need for Right Action.” The Moon and Mars are both sesquisquare Venus and semisquare Jupiter, with Venus is square Jupiter. If we include various translations of light, we also have to include Saturn and Pluto in the configuration as Venus is conjunct Saturn which is semisquare Pluto.
This requires that we find a correct response as multiple conflicting forces all push and pull, each in its own way dominant in its area. This most affects planets and points around 8-14 Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces and 23-29 Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. Saturn semisquare Pluto extends the zone zones to 1-3 of the Fixed signs, 14-18 of the Mutable signs and 29-30 of the Cardinal signs.

I associate this with the widespread global tensions as it marks the first emergent “crisis of action” in the current Saturn/Pluto cycle which began in 2020. The first article in this series has links explaining those larger long term Capricorn cycles which are in play.
2) The Moon/Sun opposition creates a “four note chord” of harmonious stabilization across the last decan of the Earth and Water signs. The Moon is sextile Uranus and trine Neptune, while the Sun is sextile Neptune and trine Uranus. This is a very strong harmonizing energy providing understanding and productivity related to the spiritual field.
3) Due to Venus conjunct Saturn and quintile Uranus, the Saturn quintile Uranus is back in play! This is a specializing energy which connects the visible spiritual field with the invisible spiritual field, so expect flashes of genius which make things clear related to karma or Dharma. Areas most influenced include 10-14 Pisces, 22-26 Taurus, 4-8 Leo, 16-20 Libra, and 28 Sagittarius-2 Capricorn. Expect unique gifts and blessings, awakenings and directions, these next two weeks.
Major Aspects
Besides the various aspects I gave you related to the evolutionary configurations, forming (or partile separating) inner planet aspects include the Moon pentelftile Mercury; Mercury is sextile Venus, quadranovile Mars, triseptiles Jupiter, sesquisquares Uranus, binovile Neptune, and quindecile Pluto; Venus is novile Pluto; and the Sun septiles Saturn.
Outer planet aspects include Mars making only the aspects listed above; Jupiter is vigintile Uranus, quintile Neptune, and quadraelftile Pluto; Saturn is conjunct Neptune; and though temporarily out of orb, soon Uranus will again sextile Neptune and Neptune will be in close sextile with Pluto in 2025!
Friction comes from 3 semisquares, 2 squares, and 4 sesquisquares. Semisquares are internal friction at the beginning or end of a cycle, and to me represent the irritating metaphoric “grain of sand” in the oyster of our lives which creates a pearl or awareness.
Squares are integrative, while sesquisquares are interactive, annoying and/or agitating, but not necessarily crisis producing. This lunation there isn’t one quincunx, which always represents an adjustment or sacrifice of some sort. Just remember to decrease aggravation when a frictional aspect is in play.
For those new to the craft, quintiles and biquintiles are 5th harmonic aspects, septiles and triseptiles are 7th harmonic aspects, noviles are 9th harmonic aspects, deciles (semi-quintiles) and tredeciles are 10th harmonic aspects. The elftile series are 11th harmonic aspects, the quindecile is a 15th harmonic aspect, and the vigintile is a 20th harmonic aspect. Each of these has a unique function in the phase relationship of the two planets in aspect.
The 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th harmonic aspects are specializing and bring forth partially or fully developed quintessential elements of the planets involved. The novile (9th harmonic), septile (7th harmonic) and elftile (11th harmonic) series all feature spiritual aspects. All novile series (9th harmonic) aspects represent entry or exit points of periods of gestation which can bring forth possible spiritual developments. These aspects indicate things which need to be put on the shelf for a while, or that which has been gestating can now move forward. They represent gestative energies that can lead to great spiritual realizations.
Septile series aspects represent forks in the road of destiny, where we make choices determining karmic future developments. This series is ruled by Saturn, where we create and fulfill karma by our choices during those phase shifts. The 11th harmonic elftile series aspects involve situations where there is a need to transcend and master some form of duality by making a leap of faith. In transcending those dualistic situations, dilemmas, challenges, and thinking, we resolve the problem and learn techniques of mastering those sorts of dualities in the future. This series tests our faith. Both the 7th and 11th series involve non-rational aspect values, bringing an element of irrationality in behavior and circumstances.
The various aspects in all these different harmonic series indicate points where the theme of the Whole Cycle becomes clear, whether through major developments or minor refinements in the process. Each aspect shows a phase relationship, specific to the special and unique circumstances of that particular Whole Cycle. It's how we can know when to work, when to play, when to create, when to imagine, when to have faith, and when to mobilize!

The Eclipse Factor
We’ve had a long run of eclipses which continue to affect us. In 2020 we had a Solstice Solar eclipse at 1 Cancer and a December Solar eclipse at 24 Sagittarius. In 2021 we had a June Solar eclipse at 20 Gemini and a December Solar eclipse at 13 Sagittarius. In 2022, we had an April Solar eclipse at 11 Taurus, a May Wesak Festival Lunar eclipse at 26 Scorpio, an October Solar eclipse at 2 Scorpio and a November Total Lunar eclipse at 17 Taurus.
In 2023, we had an April Solar eclipse at 30 Aries, a May Wesak Festival Lunar eclipse at 15 Taurus/Scorpio, an October Solar eclipse at 22 Libra, and an October Lunar eclipse at 6 Taurus/Scorpio. This year we just had an April Solar eclipse at 20 Aries, and this Wesak Festival Full Moon at 5 Taurus/Scorpio. As I explained in earlier articles, all the Lunar eclipses work over just a few months, while Solar eclipse effects last for years.
As you know, I see all eclipses as “cosmic recyclers” removing what we no longer need in the houses where they occurred. All these Solar eclipses, along with others, have allowed us to “shed skins” wherever we have 9, 19, and 30 Pisces, 28 Aquarius, 29 Leo, 10 Virgo, and 21 Virgo, as well as the degrees of the recent eclipses at 1 Cancer, 24 Sagittarius, 20 Gemini, 20 and 30 Aries, 11 and 22 Libra and 13 Sagittarius. As you can see, that involves a large part of our charts! You can find out which Solar eclipses are still showing effects by referring to Astrology in October 2024 - On The Threshold of an Annular Solar Eclipse at 11 Libra which lists which eclipses are done and which are still in play (other parts which followed elaborate on the current eclipse.) That list has links to all Solar eclipses for the past 13 years.
A good meditation would be to take a look back at how something related to those points in your chart ended after those eclipses, and examine how new events, new people, and new life experiences came in those chart areas. All our losses of the past few years associated with these signs have left voids which have attracted, are attracting, or will attract life contents more appropriate to who we are now. Alternately, you may be feeling a void because someone else really isn’t there. Now it’s time to turn to what will nourish you.
Element Balance
This Full Moon continues an imbalance in the elements, with Earth and Water in the forefront. At this time, the traditional 10 planets show FIVE planets in Water signs, 0 in Fire, 3 in Earth, and 2 in Air. This makes Water (Feelings and Experiencing Life on Deep Levels) heavily preponderant, supported by a lot of Earth (Practicality and Grounding). There is even less Air (Relatedness and Communications) and no Fire (Inspiration and Light), showing we’ll have to generate that from within.
Air and Earth are “cool” elements, while Fire and Water are “hot” elements. With this distribution, it’s balanced. This should be good for knowing the “practical flow” and keeping our feelings grounded.
The current sequence at present of Deciding, Feeling, and Thinking
We’ve been through several different sequences over the past few months. There are six patterns, and each has their strengths and weaknesses. This continues last month’s pattern. For now, as a process of moving through events, the most effective “firing sequence” for approaching life and experience over the next four weeks involves beginning activity with thinking, then deciding, then feeling.
This pattern leads with a vision, or an understanding, or a communication, and then makes decisions and actions based in those things. While it is tempting to move back into more thinking, communicating, and envisioning, it is more important to move from deciding or acting into feeling what we’re experiencing as a result of those actions and decisions, and bring those feelings to the surface of your consciousness and get clear about what you’re feeling and why.
By naming the feeling or experience, it will naturally lead us back to new information, new vision, new ideals, and new understanding upon which you can do your next set of decisions and actions. Then again name what you’re feeling. That way nothing will get bottled up through underuse, and you can move through experiences with power and clarity.

Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend
Because of its dance with Jupiter, Uranus, and Pluto for months to come, Saturn is a major player in creating dynamic change through letting go of the past, finding a new way to focus our spiritual will with courage and intention. Saturn’s now direct, and with all the unique gifts and blessings promised by the evolutionary configuration Saturn’s in, we’re on our way to “proving our qualifications” as we get away from the world to find new inspirations. Saturn is bringing us important Piscean lessons wherever we have mid-Pisces in our charts, and important decisions to planets we have in the middle degrees of Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces.
Saturn has led us through a major life renewal since June 2023, so continue to follow that compassionate understanding because we must release all we cannot take into the Saturn in Aries phase beginning next year. Saturn brings maturity and structure to Pisces, and so is teaching us to open to the Grace which comes from forgiveness coupled with gratitude. Let go, let God, and let it flow down the timestream.
Saturn, our “spiritual teacher and spiritual friend” in Pisces brings an ocean of water to our Capricorn/Aquarius sectors and any natal or progressed planets we have in those signs. Though Saturn can accompany heavy lessons, it is the part of us which can take charge of our lives and destiny by using Saturn’s virtues in the right way and time. Our ability to steer our “ship of personality” into our higher destiny brings us new parts to play on the stage of Life.
We’re still in a long wave period of saying goodbye to old roles and embracing newer more effective roles to play in the emergent Aquarian era. We continue to master navigating the fogs and illusions of Pisces, finding understanding, Divine Grace, and spiritual power in forgiveness and steering the process of closing out old ways as they present themselves.
We now get another surge of the unique gifts and blessings of Saturn quintile Uranus which has been active for many months, so enjoy the dance of specialization between what has been and what’s emerging. As Saturn gives us a review of the past at this time, Uranus brings us to a threshold of a major life renewal, with major effects to be found in planets we have near 23-30 Taurus, 5-12 Leo, 17-24 Libra, 29 Sagittarius- 6 Capricorn, and 11-18 Pisces. Summing it Up
This is a season of leaving things behind because “the center has given way” and there’s no more magnetism holding certain things together. We now move forward in many ways as we continue to deal with the slowed pace of Mars retrograde. Beware of passive-aggressive (as well as active-aggressive) influences while moving toward what you care about, even if the path is somewhat roundabout.
Decrease contention and any tendency to be annoyed or aggravated as you reach at least one level of fulfilling your life quest. There may be a sense of emptiness when things are done, but remember that we’re “pre-forming the future” by how we manage the flow at this time. With Venus, Saturn, Neptune, and the North Node in Pisces, we learn from Pisces, and show what we know in Virgo.
Despite the different pace, get as much done as you can, stay connected with Source, and honor your deep feelings which connect you to all Beings. This is a time of enhanced “non-local awareness” as we navigate several sets of foggy passages, so get clear and stay clear about the joyous promise of the future focused as an ability to glide across the surface of the hard conditions. Celebrate what comes, celebrate what goes, celebrate what endures, and celebrate the promise to major movement forward in April.
See the deeper elements in Nature teaching you about life passages, quicken to the promise which will be fulfilled in the Spring, and accept the power while also understanding that enlightenment is a verb rather than a noun. Pay no attention to the confusion, dread, or uncertainty as you find the “cloak” you need to go into the world so you are not exposed to the destructive elements now raging.
Jupiter continues its review of mid-Gemini as it again squares Saturn due to Venus translating the light. Open to new ideas and don’t let fear, ambiguity, or dualistic arguments deflect you from new ideas and new angles of understanding. Jupiter in Gemini helps us see things from many different points of view, find a sense of humor and perspective, and how to imitate to learn and grow. If appropriate, introduce a celebration in the midst of gloom.
With each coming year, we’ll see definite movement away from the ideas which dominated the old 200 year Earth Era and see more of the emergent 200 year Air Era launched at the December 2020 Solstice. This transitional period requires that we ask questions related to our spiritual purpose, fearless as we are One with the World Soul and walk through the world but are not “of” the world. We have found inner strength the past four years, and learned the spiritual power of gratitude which brought assistance from Devas and Angels.
Forgiving much with compassion for the generic human condition, we are being released from all which doesn’t serve our momentum into our greater purpose. This is the heart of a global acceleration in transforming those who are part of a greater service and group work. Embrace a new identity, a new love, a new spiritual awareness, and a new spiritual expression in grounded ways, so keep your mind and heart open and keep coordinating your body, feelings, and mind to demonstrate a stable and harmonized Soul energy. That's a great part to play as we dance through life's changes!
A Meditation on Light and Shadow
Because life seems to be a never-ending experience of out-breathing elements of the past and in-breathing elements of the new, it is useful to remember that when we are moving through major changes, and something new is introduced into our lives, it means that something else must leave, or has already left, to provide space for the new to be embraced. And lesser wisdom must give way to greater wisdom, and old forms give way to newer realities. As I’ve offered before “enlightenment” is a verb more than it is a noun.
While sometimes having to say goodbye to older, lesser ways of life can be a drag, it is important to remember that even though life can occasionally be painful, we do not have to suffer. And as we learn to break the link between pain and suffering, we heal our part of humanity and the world.

We are Light. All things are composed of Light in various frequencies that express as limitless forms. Some light frequencies are of greater density than others.
All shadows result from light hitting a dense object. Psychological shadows too. Therefore, it’s good to become as translucent and translucid as possible to dispel lurking shadows.
If you must look at and/or deal with shadows, whether your own or another’s, then refocus your Light on the object being illuminated, since that form is the source of the shadow.
Find the correct 4 angles of illuminating whatever you want to focus on, and all shadows will be dispelled. Then you’re seeing things with an illuminated mind, and can act accordingly.
