Astrology in February 2024 - How Does Venus Conjunct Mars at 7 Aquarius Affect Us?

by Robert Wilkinson Venus is approaching its conjunction with Mars! They danced fairly closely in late Capricorn, and now are going to be extremely close through February 26, with the exact conjunction at 7 Aquarius on February 21/22. So just what does Venus conjunct Mars hold for us? This conjunction is exact at 11:14 pm PST on February 21, making the partile phase (most powerful) in play from now through February 26. The conjunction marks the beginning of a cycle with themes related to 7 Aquarius which will last through January 2026 when Venus will conjunct Mars at 19 Capricorn. Because this conjunction is the exact degree where Saturn went stationary direct in October 2021, it will launch those themes into prominence these next 2 years. As it is a symbol of new things emerging from Cosmos unrelated to prior local conditions, you can expect whatever we trained for in 2021 will come forth in 2024 and 2025! This promises to be a very dynamic cycle, as Venus and Mars are both square Jupiter and biseptile Uranus, showing many will make radical changes in their relationships over the next two years. The promise is in the Aquarian idealism and freedom, and with Venus and Uranus in mutual reception, I’m sure important connections will be made! Whenever the forces of "love and war," beauty and strife, diplomacy and directness get together, it begins a whole new cycle wherever it falls in our charts. This conjunction fuses energies that rule our Aries, Taurus, Libra, and Scorpio houses, and marks a point where something begins to concretely manifest in whatever house we have 7 Aquarius. The Sabian Symbol for the Conjunction The Sabian Symbol for the 7th degree of Aquarius is “A Child born of an eggshell.” In the original Jones class notes published by Rudhyar in his masterwork The Astrology of Personality, Rudhyar says this is a degree of “new actuation of effort by the power of unrealized purposes,” “self-expression beyond all expectation,” and “spiritual protection.” In his Astrological Mandala, we are told that this degree refers to “the emergence of new mutations according to the great rhythms of the cosmos.” He offers that “the cosmic egg” represents the source of “birthing a new universe,” which speaks of “the appearance of a new type of human being who is not born from ‘ancestors’ and who therefore is free from the inertia of (humankind’s) past,” and that this is “a new product of evolution, a mutant.” He says this “constitutes a fresh projection of the creative Spirit that emanates from the cosmic or planetary Whole, and not from any local culture and racial tradition,” and tells us this announces “the emergence of Global Humanity for the New Age,” where “the power of the whole is focused … in perfect freedom from ancient standards of value based on local conditions.” This degree falls in the Span of Defensiveness, and is the counterpoint degree in the individual-mental level of the Scene of Contribution in the Act of Capitalization. Dr. Marc E Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, says this is a degree of “the infinite regression in all personal reality, not as a fact of some mysterious loss of self either in source or in final dissolution but as a demonstration of the illimitable potentialities to be found in each immediate moment of self-realization.” He offers that “For his own enlightenment (we) may project (ourselves) indefinitely into what has been or what may be but (our) assurance is in the ever-present sustainment of the auric egg or self-matrix in which existence continues to create itself in its own image.” He offers us the keyword ESSENTIALITY. He states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is “a highly individual and completely unlimited resourcefulness.” So this fusion of Venus and Mars sets a new cycle into motion involving our need to accept, experience, and dance with a brand new energy emerging related to planets and houses we have in Aries, Taurus, Libra, and Scorpio. This promises a foundation of “unlimited resourcefulness,” and new efforts blessed by a spiritual emanation of some sort. Wherever this falls in our charts, expect a lot of activity in the realms of Venus and Mars, as well as Venus and Mars ruled people, until the next Venus conjunct Mars at 19 Capricorn in January 2026. Other Factors Saturn being the worldly ruler of the conjunction is at 9 Pisces, showing that behind it all is a quickening where we need to let go of superfluous or unnecessary baggage of all sorts. Because of the aspect between Saturn and the conjunction, it may mark a need for a leap of faith at the end of the old Venus and Mars cycles with Saturn as they bring forth a brand new energy from Cosmos which isn’t related to anything we already knew. As Venus, Saturn, and Jupiter all form the “chain of dispositors” ruling all the other planets except Neptune, Venus is very powerful in this coming cycle, with major developments as it crosses the Saturn and Jupiter degrees in coming weeks. And it just so happens that the first decan of Aquarius is ruled by Saturn with an added dose of Venus, She is very strong in the coming cycle! The Moon is at 9 Leo, putting a focus on a technique of creative intensity where we may create beautiful shapes by using our “breath” to “shape the glass vases.” The Moon will be the focus of the Bucket Jones pattern, so be creative and playful when interacting with others. There is a Fixed T-square throwing the void into the span of 5-13 Scorpio, so expect strong feelings to come up from time to time so that you can remember to detach, enjoy, and have some fun! The coming two years promise entirely new developments which will be sudden, surprising, different, unusual and perfect for what we need. Whether to advance or retreat, there will be value in doing our own thing in our own way, greeting new developments as a chance to fulfill a part of our spiritual training in play since 2021. As this chart holds the same aspects as the coming Full Moon chart, I’ll elaborate in those articles about the aspects in play, as well as the planetary spread, the element balance, and all the other technical nuances to be found. This conjunction will be very educative in terms of our ability to embrace things and people which are different than what we’ve known, and come as a new mutation from Cosmos. Much that’s been difficult up to now will turn out very well, if we did the hard work up front. Those who faced facts now see a new identity, and those who did what they had to do will find what nourishes them as one “day of labor” ends and a new adventure begins. Compare notes, integrate everything cheerfully to further craft your Higher Self, and if you really, really strive, you could find yourself manifesting subtle powers you never dreamed of before now! This launches a new phase of our “metamorphosis” and graduation into a new realm of life. While there may be metaphoric “traffic jams,” we’ll all learn when to quicken, when to harvest, when to imagine, and when to be creative-expressive. Growth comes from “returning to Source” for inspiration, and seeking elementary truths of life. On a final note, I gave you this at the Venus/Mars conjunction at 1 Aquarius back in 2022. The first degree of Aquarius has been stimulated multiple times since March 2020, and is the theme of a long cycle in play until 2040. That degree relates to the ongoing series of waves bringing in the “building of an ideal” serving as a “spiritual touchstone for the future.” You can find out more about the previous conjunctions at 1 Aquarius, how they affect different generations, and important phase shifts in past and future Jupiter/Saturn cycles relative to their conjunction points by going to: How Venus Conjunct Mars, Mars Conjunct Saturn, and Jupiter Conjunct Saturn at 1 Aquarius Affects Different Generations © Copyright 2024 Robert Wilkinson
