Question about changing zodiac signs

Why would precession of the earth change our current zodiac signs since we were born in the past? This probably sounds dumb, but my brain is about to break over this. Like why would it matter what position the earth is in now. Isn't it all about what position it was in at the time of birth?

Any insight would be welcome!

My ascendent is - according to birth certificate time - 27 degrees Libra. But I was just playing around with a rectification app and realized that if I didn't know the exact time, I'd definitely rectify it to 15 minutes later. Because when it has you match Libra vs Scorpio type traits, I come out more definitely Scorpio. Or maybe the BC is wrong?
