August 23rd, 2023: Virgo Season Begins

The Sun enters Virgo at 5:01 am EDT. This is the season of the fixer, the specialist, the purifier. It has a "back to work" vibe after indulgent Leo.

This is a time when reminders pop up about details that must be attended to in preparation for the approaching Autumn. You're urged to scale back and clean up. Virgo's precision means only what's immediately effective and practical is considered.

It's a good time to check in with yourself regarding matters of self-care and standards. Good enough doesn't cut it. Sure, perfection is an illusion, but striving to get as close as you can ensures that less than positive relationships, career choices and habits are upgraded (or purged). 

Consider where you've been putting up with less. Improvement and/or jettisoning that which can't be improved takes work and it's often easier to just settle. But don't you deserve the best?

Virgo is also about helping/serving others which can easily cross the line into slavery. So this season is a good time to define that line. Identify the precise area where you're being taken advantage or (conversely) where you're not doing enough for someone. People accuse Virgo of being picky but there's comfort in knowing exactly where and how.

However, this is not about public recognition. Virgo's work is often done alone and behind the scenes. It's the quiet but essential labour that others may never see. The discipline that only you know about. Humbleness is a trait of this sign and that in itself is a discipline- doing your best without striving for applause and still being proud because you know you did exceptional work. Any recognition that does arrive comes from a select group of people. 

Also today, Mercury stations Rx in Virgo (21 deg, 3:59 pm EDT). This will amplify the energy of precision as one detail/flaw/message from the past is underlined. You're meant to ask the finicky question or go over and over that one thing until you understand why it's an issue. Don't rush to say "yes" or "no." Take your time and really consider what this little thing means. Or, search for the missing piece (often Mercury Rx can return what was lost). Delays and do -overs are opportunities to get it right.
