Can the effect of challenging aspects change over time? (Square, opposition, inconjunct, etc?)

I’ve been in to astrology and learning for about 15 years. I feel I have the basics down and have a good understanding of the planets’ energy wherever they may land in a chart. Next step for me is understanding the aspects deeply.

Say, for example, there is a square in a synastry chart. At the start, this square causes tension between the two chart holders. Over time, each person matures in to their own chart. Is it possible for this square (or opposition, or inconjunct, or any other challenging aspect) to reap benefits for one or both chart holders?

My ascendent is - according to birth certificate time - 27 degrees Libra.
