Direct and retrograde planets in aspect?

Can anyone elaborate on the effects of a direct planet in aspect to a retrograde one?

I’m asking more in the context of an opposition where the two planets are fighting in opposite directions. I know retrograde planets are considered “weaker” so my initial thoughts are that the direct planet would dominate the opposition.
