Why do squares have such a bad reputation in astrology?

In every natal and synastry chart reading, squares are considered a negative aspect. But won’t having signs in the same modality be beneficial? Especially in synastry charts. Shouldn’t signs sharing modalities have a similar effect to trines?

Diana Garland and Bracha Goldsmith have both youtube channels with multiple 10k followers and used to upload astrology content on a regular basis for years. However they both stopped at some point & we never posted on their platforms anymore!
